Lidums Chess Foundation

The Lidums family has a long and proud history of supporting chess in South Australia over many decades, and the Lidums Chess Foundation was established by Aivars Lidums in 1988 following the success of the Adsteam-Lidums International chess tournament.

The University of Adelaide was established in 1874, it is the third oldest university in Australia. It is associated with five Nobel laureates, 104 Rhodes scholars and is a member of the Group of Eight.

Australian Junior Chess League

The Australian Junior Chess League (AusJCL) operates under the Australian Chess Federation (ACF), and is responsible for managing the national and international affairs of Australian junior chess.

South Australian Junior Chess League

The SAJCL been promoting Junior Chess in SA for over 50 years thanks to the dedication and passion of Evelyn and Gary Koshnitsky and many other tireless volunteers. As a non-profit local organisation, the SAJCL endeavours to make chess affordable and accessible to everyone.

50 Moves Magazine

50 Moves is Australia’s Leading Chess Publication providing an outlet where Australian chess players of all ages could share their knowledge and unique experiences. Available for Print and Digital (PDF+PGN) formats. Featuring various articles on opening, middlegame and endgame strategies, interviews with local and international players, chess psychology, history and news about Australian chess from a team of passionate and dedicated Australian writers.

Gardiner Chess

Gardiner Chess, based on the Gold Coast, aims to bring chess into the classrooms of as many schools as possible, with the aim of establishing a thriving chess culture in the community at large.


Chesslife is the dream of founder and Head Coach David Koetsier. Chesslife has been actively involved in the chess community in SA, teaching chess at schools, starting local chess clubs and running chess tournaments and school holiday activities.

Knights & Bytes is a special business set up in South Australia by Alan Goldsmith to promote chess to schools, groups and individuals and to develop a wide range of elegant databases, suited to your business. We also provide chess equipment and books.

Northern Star Chess

Northern Star Chess provides quality school chess programs for primary and secondary schools around Victoria, from chess clubs to chess incursions to conducting Chess Victoria qualifying zonal tournaments. We also conduct the prestigious Billanook Chess Classic tournaments each year, boasting a cash prize pool of $4000+
